The sandals have an anatomically shaped Birkenstock Women’s footbed that is also made from EVA. The sandals are waterproof and have aUltra lightweight feel. The deep heel cup provides support for the foot tissue and holds the heel bone firmly in its natural position. The heel mold activates the calf muscles, stabilizes the back of the foot, and improves gait and coordination. The sandals also have interior and exterior longitudinal arch supports that surround the tarsal bones inside and out. The transverse arch support runs through the middle of the footbed and stabilizes the metatarsal bone. The toe grip has raised indentations at the front of the footbed near the toes that help the toes remain loose and spread out in their natural position. The footbed is drawn up especially high at the front to protect the toes during the rolling motion of the foot.
