How to Use

Substrate Preparation

• Ensure all surfaces are clean and dry.
• Degrease and remove contaminants that may impair adhesion.
• Suitable solvents: isopropyl alcohol, acetone, or methyl ethyl ketone.
• Provides unprimed adhesion to many substrates such as glass, metals, and most common engineering plastics.
• Poor adhesion typically occurs with PTFE, polyethylene, polypropylene, and related materials.
• For maximum adhesion, apply DOWSIL™ 1200 OS Primer by dipping, brushing, or spraying.
• Allow primer to dry for 15–90 minutes at room temperature with ≥50% relative humidity.

Application

• Apply DOWSIL™ 732 Sealant to one prepared surface, then quickly cover with the other substrate.
• On exposure to moisture, the sealant will “skin‑over.” Complete any tooling before this occurs.
• Easily tooled with a spatula.
• Tack‑free in less than 45 minutes.

Cure Time

• After skin formation, curing continues inward.
• At 24 hours (room temperature, 50% RH), cures to ~3 mm depth.
• Deep sections or restricted access to moisture will take longer.
• Cure time extends at lower humidity.
• Ensure sufficient curing before handling or packaging bonded components.
